Ruthless Mentor ("we," "us," "our") provides honest manuscript reviews to authors through the website at ruthlessmentor.com. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
You own your manuscript. Full stop. Submitting a manuscript for review does not transfer any rights, ownership, or licensing to us. We do not claim authorship, co-authorship, or any creative rights over your writing. The review we provide is our commentary on your work — it does not make your book ours.
We will never use your manuscript to train AI models. We will never resell, republish, or distribute your writing. Your work is yours.
When you purchase a review, you're paying for a one-time manuscript evaluation delivered as a written report. The report includes first impressions, structure analysis, voice evaluation, prose quality, character feedback, line-level callouts, market reality assessment, and a final verdict — as described on the homepage.
The review is not a substitute for a developmental editor, copy editor, or beta reader. It's a ruthless, honest assessment meant to help you revise your work.
If your review fails to generate, comes through incomplete, or contains a clear technical error, email support@ruthlessmentor.com and we will either regenerate the review for free or refund your payment in full.
We don't issue refunds because you disagree with the feedback. The reviews are designed to be ruthlessly honest, and honest feedback sometimes stings. That's the product. If you wanted cheerful encouragement, there are other places to get that.
Coupon-based free reviews are not eligible for refunds (there's nothing to refund).
If you purchase a subscription plan, you are charged monthly until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access to your remaining reviews until then. Unused reviews do not roll over to the next month.
You can use the service without an account (anonymous reviews are emailed to you as a shareable link). If you create an account, you're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You can delete your account at any time by emailing us.

The review is an opinion. It is not a guarantee of publication, commercial success, or any particular outcome. We are not liable for decisions you make based on the review. Use it as one voice among many — not the final word.
The service is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it running smoothly, but we don't guarantee it will be available 100% of the time.
If we update these terms, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be emailed to active users. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the updated terms.
